I am working on a macOS project that involves a literal timer. I understand that NSTimer exists, but I hear that it isn't great for energy efficiency and performance. My goal is to create a literal timer, as in numbers counting down on the screen, but to make it incredibly efficient under the hood. What's the proper way to achieve the behavior of a number counting down once every second, but in a way that is always accurate and has almost zero impact to energy and performance. I understand that NSTimer may be the best solutuion for this, and in that case would a one second repeating timer cause a large energy impact? Thank you!
